aiwanese arrested for credit card fraud turns out wanted for murder in Taiwan

A Taiwanese who was earlier arrested by authorities for credit card fraud turned out to be a wanted man in his homeland, it was learned yesterday.

        Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. identified the arrested fugitive as 24-year-old Wu Yen Jung, who is presently detained at the BI detention center in Bicutan, Taguig City.

        David said Wu is now undergoing deportation proceedings after he was arrested by elements of the BI-Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) last Sept. 19. inside the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) headquarters in Taft Ave., Manila.

BI deports 122 Viet fishermen
SEPTEMBER 28, 2011

    The Bureau of Immigration has started deporting 122 Vietnamese
nationals arrested four months ago off the coast of Palawan for
poaching on Philippine waters.

    Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. disclosed that the first
batch of 18 Vietnamese were deported last Sept. 23 when they boarded a
Philippine Airlines flight to Hanoi.

David said the second batch of 15 deportees left on Sept. 25 and
another group of 44 departed the following day.

Transfer of BI headquarters to Pasay mulled
SEPTEMBER 25, 2011

        The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has revived a plan to transfer its main building from Intramuros, Manila to the Diosdado Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City.

        Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said the bureau management is seriously studying the proposal to relocate its headquarters in view of the increasing volume of people transacting at the agency daily.

        David disclosed that he has directed his staff to undertake a feasibility study into the proposed project as it will necessitate a large amount of funding from the national government.

BI launches crackdown vs illegal aliens in South

    Intelligence agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) have invited for questioning 31 Indian nationals in Davao City as the bureau launched a crackdown against illegal aliens staying in the South.

    Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said the 31 Indians were investigated at the BI-Davao field office last Sept. 19 after months of intensive surveillance by BI operatives on the activities of the said foreign nationals.

    David said those arrested will undergo deportation proceedings for violation of the Philippine immigration act as most of them were found to be undocumented or have fraudulent visas in their passports.

BI deports Japanese carjacker
SEPTEMBER 15, 2011

       The Bureau of Immigration (BI) deported a Japanese fugitive wanted by authorities in his country for carjacking.

       Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. identified the deportee as 34-year-old Hideto Ozawa, who was deported to Tokyo via a Japan Airlines flight 742 from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport last Wednesday.

       David said Ozawa was deported after being detained for more than a month at the BI detention center in Bicutan, Taguig City. It was learned that Ozawa hid in the Philippines for more than five years to evade prosecution for his crimes.
